Luxor-Filmpalast Bensheim

The Luxor-Filmpalast opened at Berliner Ring 26 in December 2011. It is one of five Luxor cinemas, run by Christa and Jochen Englert. A 250,000-litre saltwater tank with sharks, rays and other exotic fish stands in the entrance area. Six of the seven halls carry colour names instead of numbers: Blue with 326 seats, Red and Black with 200 each, Green and Brown with 129 each, and Purple with 103. The seventh is Luxor 7, a 32-seat room in Star Wars design, where Boba Fett and Darth Vader stand at the entrance, the anteroom is dressed as a deck of the Death Star, and Han Solo hangs frozen in carbonite on the wall. That makes 1,119 seats in the house. A private collection of action figures and film merchandise is kept in the building.
