DEFA
The state film studio of East Germany, founded in 1946 in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Until 1992 it produced around 700 feature films, among them Trace of Stones, The Legend of Paul and Paula and Jacob the Liar, the only DEFA film nominated for an Academy Award. Its films still run in German cinemas.
