The cast

Marvel confirmed a 27-name ensemble on 26 March 2025, drawing three film franchises into one film. Disney's cast list now has 30 names, adding Chris Evans, Kathryn Newton and Mabel Cadena.

Where it sits in the Multiverse Saga

Doomsday is the second-to-last film of the Multiverse Saga and leads directly into Avengers: Secret Wars, dated 17 December 2027 in the US. It was once announced for May 2026 under the title Avengers: The Kang Dynasty; Marvel moved the date and pivoted the story to Doctor Doom after recasting the saga's villain.

Premium formats

Disney has created its own premium large-format certification, Infinity Vision, for the biggest screens with laser projection and premium sound. It exists because IMAX committed its December screens to Dune: Part Three, which opens the same day in the US. It is already in German cinemas. UCI names certified halls in 18 of its cinemas: Berlin (East Side Gallery, Eastgate, Gropius Passagen), Potsdam, Hamburg (Mundsburg, Wandsbek), Dresden (Elbe Park), Leipzig (Nova Eventis), Cottbus, Duisburg, Neuss, Bochum (Ruhr Park), Paderborn, Bad Oeynhausen, Nordhorn, Wilhelmshaven, Flensburg and Kaiserslautern. CinemaxX shows Infinity Vision in 20 of its cinemas, and the Filmpalast Lüneburg has two such halls. UCI and CinemaxX say Doomsday will play in Infinity Vision. No German IMAX cinema lists showtimes for it yet.

Behind the film

The Russo brothers direct, from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely. Principal photography ran from 28 April to 19 September 2025 at Pinewood and Shinfield Studios in England, with location work at Windsor Great Park and in Bahrain.

The run-up: Avengers: Endgame Extended

Since Thursday 24 September 2026, Avengers: Endgame has been back in German cinemas as Avengers: Endgame Extended, with a first look at Doomsday. The standard version runs 183 minutes, just under two more than the original. In IMAX and Infinity Vision halls it runs 186 minutes and adds more bonus material looking ahead to Doomsday. A sensible way to catch up before December.

When does Avengers: Doomsday open in Germany?

On Wednesday 16 December 2026, the regular German start; the US release is 18 December 2026.

When can I buy tickets?

UCI, Cineplex, the Kinopolis cinemas and the Zoo Palast open sales on Monday 5 October 2026 at 12:00. A few smaller cinemas already sell tickets.

Will it be shown in the original English?

Yes. It opens in both the original version (OV/OmU) and the German dubbed version, and KinoNow shows the showtimes for both.

How long is it?

There is no official runtime yet. Marvel has not published one, so we do not state one.

What is the FSK rating?

Not yet set.

How does it relate to Secret Wars?

Doomsday is the penultimate film of the Multiverse Saga and leads into Avengers: Secret Wars, dated 17 December 2027 in the US.

Does Robert Downey Jr. play Iron Man?

No. He returns as the villain Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom.

Is Chris Evans in it?

Yes. He is on Disney's official cast list, and Disney's own stills name him as Steve Rogers / Captain America.
