Kino ist Programm e.V. is a non-profit society founded in 2014 by film fans in Bayreuth and run entirely by volunteers. It has held Programmkino days since November 2014, as one weekend a month since 2016, with special screenings on top. Films play at the Kunst- und Kulturhaus Neuneinhalb on Gerberplatz 1. The entrance is on Hohenzollernring at the corner of Kulmbacher Straße, and the building is not fully accessible. The programme is mostly current German and European arthouse films and international independent productions, largely in the original version with German subtitles. A short film runs before every feature. The Deutscher Kinematheksverbund recognised the society as „Kino, das wagt“. Tickets are 7 euros, 4 euros for children. There is no advance sale: the box office opens half an hour before the film, tickets can be reserved by e-mail, and seats are not numbered.
