Kreuzstraße 16, 53225 Bonn
The last bread was baked at the Kreuzstraße factory in Bonn-Beuel in 1984. Culture moved into the buildings soon after, and the cinema opened in 1986, out of a student milieu and in the tradition of the programme cinemas of its day. It is run by the Bonner Kinemathek, one of the few houses that still assembles a genuine monthly schedule instead of letting a title run until the room empties: new arthouse films next to retrospectives and classics, and more than half of what we list here in the original version with subtitles. Since 2004 the Kinemathek has had a second screen at the LVR-Landesmuseum across the river. Seats are unnumbered, a lift from the rear courtyard reaches both the cinema and the Brotfabrik's pub, and the same complex holds a theatre, dance studios and a children's stage.
