Feilenstraße 4, 33602 Bielefeld
Karl Aul founded the Kamera in 1950 and it opened on Feilenstraße in 1957. The house counts itself among the oldest arthouse cinemas in Germany. It has been run together with the Lichtwerk since 2008. Several rebuilds later the Kamera has three halls, a foyer on the ground floor and a cinema bar on the third. The SALON is up there too, 24 seats, the smallest hall of either house. Saal1 on the ground floor is air-conditioned, and the step-free way to the box office and Saal1 runs through the stairwell. The lift in the stairwell reaches the accessible toilet on the third floor. The two halls up there are neither air-conditioned nor step-free. The Deutsch-Französische Gesellschaft Bielefeld usually hosts cinéma français here on the last Monday of the month, with new French films in the original and German subtitles, introduced in French.
