Filmtheater Schauburg

A five-screen house on Königsbrücker Straße in the Neustadt, and one of the two cinemas that carry Dresden's arthouse programme. It is unusual in how carefully it states language: the dubbed print and the subtitled print of the same film are programmed as separate entries, each with its own showtimes, so an original-version screening is never a footnote on a dubbed one. Its archive runs to some forty-five distinct version descriptions across around fifteen languages, English subtitles among them. Alongside current releases it keeps a Best of Cinema strand of restored classics in their original language, The Terminator among them this month, plus previews and the Eastern European film festival it hosts each autumn.
