The Filmtheater Friedrichsdorf-Köppern is a single-screen cinema at Köpperner Straße 70, in the centre of Köppern. It is run by the Weidinger family, who kept the inn "Zur Erholung" on the same spot from the early 19th century. In 1899 Johann Weidinger, great-great-grandfather of today's operator, built a hall there for gymnastics, singing and dancing, and from 1918 films were shown in it regularly. In 1945 the Americans requisitioned the cinema and set its projectors up in the Kurhaus in Bad Nauheim. The projectors returned to Köppern at Christmas 1947. Since November 2010 practically every film runs on digital projection, which can also show 3D. The auditorium has 10 rows of 15 seats, with step-free access. Reservations are by phone only, and reserved tickets must be collected at least 20 minutes before the show.
