Die Filminsel

The Filminsel at Hintergasse 3 is Biblis's community cinema, run by an association of volunteers. In May 1951 Anton Neumann opened the Filmbühne here, a converted barn with 180 seats. It closed in the 1980s. In spring 1986 a group of young people reopened the building as the Filminsel, and the association followed in 1987. The single auditorium has 111 seats in the stalls and 20 on the balcony, which is reserved for members. The arthouse series usually runs on Thursdays at 20:00, the children's series on Sundays at 16:00.
