Ostertorsteinweg 105, 28203 Bremen
One hall of 120 seats on the Ostertorsteinweg, founded on 7 November 1969 as the first Programmkino in Germany. The premises had run from 1934 as the Kammer-Lichtspiele under Gretel and Otto Draber; seven Bremen film people, Gert Settje and Lore Bertuleit among them, turned them into a cinema programmed by choice rather than by what distribution sent, and it has collected federal and state programming prizes ever since. In 1972 it helped found the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kino, the national network of independent cinemas, and in 1973 the Bremer Kommunalkino was founded in this building, staying until it moved to Walle in 1993. The Settje family ran the house for decades; it has belonged permanently to Schauburg Kino GmbH since September 2023. Cinema and the Heldenbar share the foyer. Trams 2, 3 and 10 to Sielwall.
