Bambi Filmstudio Düsseldorf

The Bambi was opened on 1 November 1963 on Klosterstraße, north of Düsseldorf's centre, by the film distributor Erich J. A. Pietreck. It had a reputation as a first-run house within a year and has been a Programmkino since 1965, which makes it one of the oldest of the modern kind in the city; awards for its programming have come regularly. Its two screens, of 133 and 66 seats, were rebuilt in 2018/19 with new projection, sound and seating, and the redesigned foyer puts chairs out on the pavement in summer. It belongs to the Düsseldorfer Filmkunstkinos together with the Cinema, the Atelier and the Metropol. The programme is international arthouse: drama and documentary first runs, restored classics, anime evenings, the QueerFilmNacht. About a third of the screenings we list here run in the original language with German subtitles.
