The trailer

The story

This is a Hunger Games story, set a generation before Katniss Everdeen. It goes back to the fiftieth Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, when every district had to send twice its usual tributes. Among them is a sixteen-year-old from District 12, Haymitch Abernathy, whom readers later met as Katniss's mentor in the original trilogy.

Book and franchise

This is the newest film in the Hunger Games series, released in Germany as Die Tribute von Panem. It adapts Suzanne Collins' novel Sunrise on the Reaping, published in 2025, in German as Die Tribute von Panem L: Der Tag bricht an. Francis Lawrence directs, as he did Catching Fire, both Mockingjay films and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Ralph Fiennes plays a younger President Snow.

Where to see it

Tickets for Sunrise on the Reaping itself: many cinemas already list previews on the evening of Wednesday 18 November, the day before the start. The Mathäser Filmpalast in Munich and the UFA Palast in Düsseldorf open sales for the preview and the opening week on 29 October. LEONINE has not announced a presale date (as of 16 October 2026).
