aka-Filmclub e.V. Kino im Hörsaal

The aka-Filmclub is the student lecture-hall cinema of the University of Freiburg. Founded on 22 November 1957, it is one of the oldest student film clubs in Germany. Since the 2019/20 winter semester the club has screened in the Große Hörsaal of the Biology department at Schänzlestraße 1 in the Herdern district, using both digital and analogue 35mm projection. Films run in their original language with German or English subtitles where possible. Admission is 1.50 euros. It requires a membership card that costs 3.50 euros per semester and is sold only for cash at the box office. The programme runs during the university lecture period.
