Traumpalast Schwäbisch Gmünd

Gmünd's cinema in the old town at Türlensteg descends from the Turm-Theater, which opened in 1952. Lochmann Filmtheaterbetriebe bought it in May 2018, broke ground that November and reopened it in stages from autumn 2019, after a rebuild the company put at eight to nine million euros. Ten screens now hold about 1,000 seats, all in leather, most halls with lounge rows and footrests. Eclipse, the largest at 230 seats, has laser projection and Dolby Atmos on a 14-metre screen. The Turmbibliothek and the Ratsbibliothek are lined with bookshelves filled by books customers no longer wanted. The 35-seat Onyx uses a Samsung Cinema LED wall instead of a projector, which the operator describes as one of very few in the EU. The programme is mainstream and mostly dubbed, with children's matinees, a Kinotreff 50plus strand and opera relays.
