Traumpalast Schorndorf

The cinema at Rosenstraße 49 opened in 1967 as the Rex and was the first house Heinz Lochmann rebuilt as a Traumpalast, in the 1990s, the model he then repeated in Waiblingen and elsewhere. Nine screens hold about 1,250 seats, and each is decorated to its own theme rather than to a corporate standard. The largest, 1001 Nacht, seats 350 among gilded columns and oriental lamps in front of a screen 17.7 metres wide. Charisma has heavy theatre drapes and woven wall hangings, Crystal a painted skyline of an eastern city at night, Atlantis forty turquoise seats, and Domino just thirty. The programme is standard first-run and almost all of it dubbed into German, with a weekly children's show, the Kinotreff 50plus for older audiences, and opera and concert relays from abroad.
