Lüneburg's multiplex opened at Fährsteg 1, beside the Ilmenau at the edge of the old town, on 26 October 2000, with eight screens and roughly 1,650 seats. Its arrival settled the fate of the town's older cinemas: the Union-Theater and the Scala-Kinocenter had both closed that May. It traded as a CineStar for two decades and took the Filmpalast name on 1 November 2022, one of thirteen houses in the chain to do so. The auditoriums run from about 110 to 470 seats. Kino 1, the Premierensaal, has been refitted with D-Box motion recliners and comfort seats in every row. The schedule is mainstream first-run, built around the week's new releases. Fourteen of the 86 screenings we currently list are undubbed, more than most houses in the group, though this is not an original-version cinema; for that, Lüneburg has the Scala Programmkino.
