The Capitol is Riesa's first-run cinema, five screens on the Hauptstraße. It opened on Christmas Day 1927 and had grown to more than 800 seats by the 1940s. Kieft rebuilt it as a multiplex in 1992, cutting the interior into four halls; the reopening on 23 October 1992 came with a premiere of Go Trabi Go 2, for which Wolfgang Stumph travelled to Riesa. A fifth screen followed later. Seating has shrunk with each refit: 707 places across four halls in 1993, roughly 540 across five today. The house has carried the Filmpalast name since the group adopted it in November 2013. Every screening we currently list plays in German.
