Cineplex Titania

The Titania Palast in Berlin-Steglitz is a five-screen Cineplex inside a listed cinema building from 1928. It opened that January in the New Objectivity style, and its thirty-metre illuminated corner tower became a local landmark at once. The original hall seated nearly two thousand and housed an orchestra of sixty. After the war the Berlin Philharmonic gave its first concert here, the Free University held its founding ceremony within these walls, and Josephine Baker, Marlene Dietrich and Louis Armstrong appeared on its stage. The building stood dormant for decades before its restoration in 1995, which kept the heritage-listed Art Deco exterior.
