Im Mediapark 1, 50670 Köln
The Cinedom was the first building of the Mediapark to open, on 20 December 1991. Bernd Eichinger had bought the site in 1988 and put around 100 million marks into a rotunda behind a tuff-stone facade, thirty metres high on the northern edge of Cologne's Neustadt. With fourteen screens and 3,511 seats it is one of the largest cinemas in Germany. The biggest hall, Cinema 4, seats 705 in front of a screen of 222 square metres and has run laser projection and Dolby Atmos since 2015. The building was overhauled in 2018/19. Premieres have brought Hollywood to Cologne here for decades, and the KVB stop Christophstraße/Mediapark is at the door. The programme is blockbusters and event screenings, and fewer than one in ten of the screenings we list runs in the original language.
