Twenty-four screens on the Gewerbemuseumsplatz, most of them dug in under Nürnberg's old town, open since 1995 and counted by its operator as Germany's largest multiplex, with over 40 million admissions to date. The biggest hall, the CINEMAGNUM, sits seven storeys down and was built in 2001 as an IMAX; the IMAX arrangement ended in 2010 and the dome now holds a 600 m² screen, Sony 4K projection, 524 seats and one of the larger Dolby Atmos installations anywhere. Two Deluxe halls have close to two metres between rows and food brought to the seat. The 5,000 m² foyer, three restaurants and the roof terrace above are open without a cinema ticket. There are also relays of opera, ballet and theatre — the Met, Royal Ballet and Opera, NT Live — and strands including Klassik im Kino, Kulinarisches Kino and a sneak preview. In summer an open-air screen runs with deckchairs in sand.
