Weltspiegel

The Weltspiegel in Finsterwalde opened on 9 October 1912. It was built by the Cottbus office Schmidt & Arnold, who had already built the Weltspiegel in Cottbus, and the hall held 404 people at its opening. The cinema is still in the hands of the Siegert family and is run by Torsten Siegert, a great-grandson of co-founder Adolf Tonke. The stamped sheet-metal street facade was designed in 1972 by the Finsterwalde graphic artist Horst Bahr and survives today. The house now has two screens: the large historic hall with stalls, a balcony and a Visions Bar set behind glass, and a smaller Kino 2. Its arthouse strand, Der besondere Film, plays on Mondays.
