The Union-Filmtheater in Immenstadt im Allgäu opened on 21 March 1940 and is family run in the third generation; Karl Seitz took it over from his parents in 1974 and runs it with Ildikó Seitz. A second hall for European films, documentaries and children's films was added in the 1980s, and its programme has won federal and state awards, including the top prize for the best annual programme in Bavaria. Kino 1 now seats 200; both halls are digital, and the large hall shows films in 3D using the RealD system. The cinema's Café Lampenfieber is open daily from 6.30pm.
