The SCALA Programmkino is at Apothekenstraße 17 in Lüneburg and has four screens, Kino 1 to Kino 4. It is run by SCALA Programmkino + Medien GmbH. A lift in the courtyard opposite the Café Central on Schröderstraße gives step-free access, every screen has a wheelchair space, and there is an accessible toilet. Since 2026 the film sound in every hall can be sent straight to compatible hearing aids over Auracast. The house belongs to the AG Kino (Gilde deutscher Filmkunsttheater), the international CICAE association and the Europa Cinemas network. Alongside current arthouse releases the SCALA shows films in the original with German subtitles (OmU), the Royal Ballet & Opera relays from London, and special strands such as KaffeeKino, Film & Gespräch, Cinema & Dinner and sneak previews. The printed SCALA-Kinomagazin comes out every month.
