Hauptstr. 122, 40764 Langenfeld
The Rex is Langenfeld's only first-run cinema, on the Hauptstraße in the middle of town, with three screens of 243, 79 and 22 seats and a summer open air in the Freizeitpark. It belongs to Schauplatz Langenfeld GmbH, the town's own culture company, which also puts on comedy, cabaret and concerts at other venues in Langenfeld and has run the cinema since 2000. What plays here is largely what plays everywhere: current blockbusters, with arthouse titles alongside them. Our listings show the whole of the coming programme in German dubbed versions, so original-language screenings, which the house calls O-Töne, are an occasional series rather than normal practice. The FrauenFilmForum and the Lebenslust afternoons, run together with the town, are the other regular strands.
