The Residenz is a cinema on Rumbecker Straße in Arnsberg, in the Sauerland hills of southern Westphalia. Arnsberg was once the seat of the Electors of Cologne, which the cinema's name recalls. The old town cascades down a promontory above the Ruhr, crowned by castle ruins and threaded with half-timbered lanes, and forested ridgelines surround it.
