Metropolis Nürnberg

An arthouse cinema on the Stresemannplatz north-east of Nürnberg's old town, running since 1986 and named after Fritz Lang's silent film. Two screens and 208 seats between them, a small bar, digital projection; the Restaurant Metropolis attached to it puts tables out on the square in warmer months and is used by people who are not going to a film. It is the smaller and quieter of the two arthouse houses the CINECITTA family runs beside its multiplex in the centre, reachable on foot from the old town or on tram line 8. The programme is current arthouse, with two strands of its own — Einklang, built around mindfulness, nature and art, and Ü50 for older audiences. Across the group's four cinemas roughly a quarter of all screenings run in the original version. Cineville subscriptions are accepted.
