The Méliès is an arthouse cinema in central Göttingen that opened on 3 September 2020. It grew out of the Filmkunstfreunde Göttingen e.V. association. Its auditorium sits in a converted former Baptist church from 1902 right on the old town wall, with the half-timbered frame of the nave still in place. It seats 106, 33 of them on a gallery. The house is named after the French film pioneer Georges Méliès (1861-1938).
