Kinorama Unna

Cinema in Unna goes back to 1907, when the great-grandfather of the Höhmann family opened the town's first house and an orchestra still accompanied the films. After the war the business carried on as an open-air cinema until a new building opened in 1952; that auditorium is today's Kino 1. Five more screens were added between 1956 and 1994, so the site on Massener Straße, opposite the Lindenbrauerei, now holds six halls and about 1,400 seats. A change of owner in 2017 brought the present name; until then it was the Filmcenter Unna. It is still run as a family business. Kino 2 has motion seats, the circle has paired seating, and Dolby Atmos runs in the main halls. The programme is that of a town-centre first-run house: current releases, an arthouse strand, senior and children's mornings, opera and concert relays.
