Kinoptikum

The Kinoptikum is Landshut's first and only arthouse cinema, run by the volunteer association Filmzentrum e.V. since 1977. It opened on 20 October 1977 with Fellini's La Strada. Its single screen seats 45, 37 cinema chairs and a padded bench in the front row, and the screen measures 3.10 by 2.10 metres. The auditorium was renovated between 2020 and 2022. Admission is 7 euros for every seat, and the cinema shows no advertising. The programme runs about 20 films a month and, alongside German-dubbed versions, shows films in the original version (OV) and in the original with subtitles (OmU). The cinema is at Nahensteig 189, on the corner of Balsgasse, about 70 metres from Dom St. Martin.
