Chemnitzer Straße 133, 09599 Freiberg
KINOPOLIS Freiberg has five screens and 863 seats on Chemnitzer Straße, on the edge of the Saxon Silberstadt, the Silver City, a medieval mining town whose eight hundred and fifty years of history earned it a place in the UNESCO World Heritage Erzgebirge Mining Region. Freiberg is known for its late-Gothic patrician houses, the Silbermann organ in St. Mary's Cathedral, the world's oldest mining academy and the terra mineralia collection in Freudenstein Castle. All five halls are air-conditioned with 7.1 surround sound and partial 3D capability, and range from 161-seat rooms to a 251-seat auditorium. The programme covers blockbusters, previews, seniors' cinema and children's screenings for a town of around 41,000 inhabitants. There is a restaurant on site.
