Emotion opened in October 2024 on the second floor of the Monheimer Tor, the rebuilt shopping centre at the heart of Monheim am Rhein's new town centre. It is run by Thomas and Julian Rüttgers, father and son, who previously ran the cinema in Mettmann and deliberately cut the seats per screen when they moved. Six auditoriums share 570 seats, each designed differently: the flagship with a curved screen, Christie laser projection in the CINITY format, Dolby Atmos and D-BOX seats; a 33-seat studio; a hall of recliners; another furnished like a library, with sofas. In 2025 the International Cinema Technology Association named it best new-build cinema of the year for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The programme is first-run, with European titles, children's films and live relays alongside. Every upcoming screening in our listings is dubbed.
