Opened in 2018 just steps from the historic Delphi Filmpalast, the delphi LUX brought a sleek, modern multi-screen arthouse cinema to Charlottenburg's Kantstraße. Its interior, set within the Yva-Bogen — named after the pioneering photographer Yva (Else Ernestine Neulaender-Simon), who was murdered during the Holocaust — carries both architectural ambition and historical weight. The cinema was recognised with the German government's cinema programming award in 2019, confirming its curatorial seriousness from the start. As a regular Berlinale venue, it adds contemporary energy to a street already steeped in film history. The delphi LUX proves that a new cinema can honour the past without imitating it.
