Das Lumen Solingen

Das Lumen occupies the upper floor of the Clemens-Galerien on Mühlenplatz in central Solingen. It opened with the shopping centre in 2000 as a CinemaxX. Meinolf Thies and Lutz Nennmann took over the operation in 2004, renamed it Das Lumen in 2016 and have run it independently since. Eight screens share more than 1,250 seats; the eighth, MY PRIVATE LUMEN, is a 34-seat room from 2018 that a group can book for itself. Laser projection and Dolby Atmos are installed throughout, with D-BOX motion seats in the main hall, and the house makes a point of screens that start without advertising. Programming is first-run: our listings put about one upcoming screening in ten in the original language, the rest dubbed. Anime nights, ladies' nights, cult screenings and live relays fill out the week.
