Corso Cinema International

The Corso has been in Vaihingen's Hauptstraße since 1957, when it opened as a basement cinema next to the old Schiller-Theater: a plain street front with lit poster cases and a retro neon sign, and stairs down to the two halls, whose interior still shows its mid-century origins. What sets it apart is a decision taken in 1984. Since then it has shown films in their original English version, without subtitles, and it describes itself as Stuttgart's only true "dubbing-free zone". The listings bear that out — every upcoming screening here is undubbed, which is true of no other cinema in the city. Two screens, of 154 and 74 seats, run current releases alongside a Movie Classics strand, with occasional events in other languages carrying English subtitles. Independently run by Fredrik Andersson, it is one of the last surviving neighbourhood cinemas in Stuttgart.
