The CineStar on Frankenstraße is in Stralsund, a Hanseatic city on the Strelasund strait whose red-brick Gothic centre was listed as UNESCO World Heritage together with Wismar in 2002. The Rathaus facade, three large parish churches and the merchant houses date from that period. Stralsund is the gateway to Rügen, Germany's largest island, so the audience mixes locals and visitors. The historic centre begins a short walk from the door.
