The Cineplex Royal is a modest cinema in Fritzlar, one of the oldest towns in Hesse, with intact medieval walls and a Romanesque cathedral. Saint Boniface felled the sacred oak of the Germanic god Donar here in 723, an act traditionally regarded as a founding moment of Christian Germany. Its audience comes from the surrounding Schwalm-Eder countryside of half-timbered villages and farmland.
