CinemaxX München is a multiplex at Isartorplatz, beside one of the surviving medieval city gates through which travellers once entered Munich from the east; its tower dates from the fourteenth century. Seven auditoriums hold roughly 1,500 seats. The larger halls have MaxXimum Sound and five screens are equipped for 3D. The Isartor U-Bahn station lies directly beneath, and the Viktualienmarkt is a few minutes away. Munich is also home to the Filmfest München and the Bavaria Film Studios.
