CinemaxX Magdeburg is a city-centre multiplex on Kantstraße, in the capital of Saxony-Anhalt on the Elbe. The auditoriums have MaxXimum Sound and digital projection. Magdeburg was a medieval imperial seat, later a Prussian fortress, was heavily bombed in the war and rebuilt as a GDR industrial city. The Grüne Zitadelle, Hundertwasser's last major building, stands nearby. The audience mixes families, students from the Otto-von-Guericke University and people from the surrounding Elbe valley.
