Königstraße 22, 70173 Stuttgart
The Cinema is the smallest of the three Innenstadtkinos: a single hall of 159 seats at Königstraße 22, next door to the Gloria and under the same roof, the Marquardt building the Mertz family rebuilt from ruins after the war. It opened in 1955, three years after the founder's death, and its foyer looks straight out onto Schlossplatz. The scale shapes the programme — instead of chasing the weekend crowd it holds films longer and leans towards arthouse and documentary, with roughly one screening in five running undubbed. It is also the house that carries the Metropolitan Opera season, live transmissions from New York through the autumn and winter, currently scheduled into June 2027.
