Karl-Heine-Straße 83, 04229 Leipzig
Cineding is a single-screen cinema with 50 seats on Karl-Heine-Straße in Plagwitz, in Leipzig's west, on the same street as the Westwerk and, further along, the Schaubühne Lindenfels. The evening programme has been run since 2020 by Kleiner Saal e.V., a non-profit association working entirely with volunteers; by day the same room belongs to the Landesfilmdienst Sachsen and its film programme for schools, children and young people. Screenings are Thursday to Saturday, the box office opens half an hour beforehand, the bar stays open through the film, there is no popcorn and at most three trailers. The selection sits well outside the multiplex: documentaries, older German cinema, curated strands such as Grenzgänger and homages to single actors, with international titles shown in the original with subtitles. Ticket prices are kept low on purpose; that is what the volunteers are for.
