Casablanca Filmkunsttheater

Three screens and 174 seats in a former printing works in a backyard off the Kopernikusplatz in Nürnberg's Südstadt, showing films since 1976. The house was closed by its previous operator, then gutted and rebuilt by a group of enthusiasts who reopened it hall by hall from 2009, the large Kino 1 in September 2010; it has since been run by the non-profit Casa e.V., with over 1,600 members and many volunteers. Its policy on language is the clearest in the city: every foreign-language film gets at least some screenings in the subtitled original, and in practice well over half of what it plays is an original version. There is a pub in the building with local beers and rotating exhibitions, and no popcorn, by decision. Hearing-loop and headphone receivers are free in every hall for every film, and audio description runs through the Greta app. Member of the Gilde, Europa Cinemas and CICAE.
