Ruhrstr. 13-15, 58452 Witten
Die Burg is Witten's town-centre cinema, on Ruhrstraße a few steps from the town hall. It opened in 1919 as the Schauburg, a single hall with room for 800. Rebuildings and changes of operator since have left it with four screens under its present name. The programme is mainstream and family: international first runs, animation and children's films, 3D on the bigger titles. Doors open at 14:15 at weekends and on holidays, from 17:00 on weekdays, and the box office closes at eight. Everything we currently list here plays in German, so this is not the address for original versions; the arthouse houses of Bochum are a quarter of an hour away by train. Monday is Kinotag, four euros for a normal-length 2D film, and the ticket also covers four hours of free parking at the Netto lot on Oberstraße behind the building.
