Rosa-Luxemburg-Str. 30, 10178 Berlin
Built in 1929 by the expressionist architect Hans Poelzig, the Babylon is a protected landmark on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in the former East Berlin. Three halls, the largest seating 500. Its Philipps cinema orchestra organ is the only one in Germany still standing where it was installed, restored in 2019 and played at regular silent film screenings with live musicians. In summer a rooftop open-air cinema adds a second screen. The programme is repertory, classics and independent work.
