Hohe Straße 26, 70176 Stuttgart
The Atelier am Bollwerk opened in 1997 on the ground floor of the Landesgirokasse service centre am Bollwerk, the whole-block building by Günter Behnisch's office between Hohe Straße and Fritz-Elsas-Straße near Berliner Platz; a cinema and a restaurant were written into the plans so the block would not be offices alone. Its three screens carry directors' names — Fellini with 200 seats, Truffaut with 90, Fassbinder with 84 and new seating after a recent refit. With the Delphi it makes up Arthaus Filmtheater Stuttgart, and it takes the broader half of that programme: current arthouse releases, mostly European, plus classics of film history and festival strands such as Cinéma Français and the queer film series. Most screenings here are dubbed into German, with a smaller regular run of original versions with subtitles, so check the version before booking.
