The Apollo-Center on Moritzstraße in Wiesbaden goes back to 1936, when Erich Ewert opened a cinema in the former ballroom of the Hotel Wiesbadener Hof. The single hall has since been divided and expanded into a five-screen centre, and the family operation continues. The Hessian state capital is a spa city of grand Wilhelmine villas and hot springs, with Frankfurt close enough to compete for its audience.
