The 51 Stufen is in the Deutsches Haus in Flensburg, in the former music hall on the second floor. Its name points to the 51 steps of the staircase you climb to reach it and to the Hitchcock film The 39 Steps. The cinema opened in December 1996. The hall has 120 seats and a screen of 3.05 by 7.20 metres. The programme sits away from the mainstream, and beside German-dubbed films the house shows some titles in the original with subtitles.
