The Union-Theater on Esslinger Straße in Plochingen was built in 1938 and is run entirely by one family. Back then the auditorium held 420 people on wooden chairs. A renovation in 1976 rebuilt the auditorium and modernised the foyer, leaving 167 upholstered seats with much more legroom. Today they are leather armchairs. In 2014 the cinema switched to digital projection with a Christie projector, and the sound runs through Dolby Digital with 14 effect speakers. Films play from Thursday to Tuesday, and Wednesday is the day off. Admission is 8 euros, 5 euros for children under 12 and 6 euros on Monday, the cinema day. The bar is open before and after the show and welcomes guests without a ticket too.
