Unikino GEGENLICHT is the arthouse cinema of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, founded in 1993. It plays on Bühne 1 in the Unikum, in the passage to the left below the Mensa and right next to the swimming pool. During the lecture period a film runs every Wednesday at 8 pm, with late shows and special strands on other days. Films mostly play in the original with German or English subtitles. The hall has 80 seats and admission is 3 euros. Students run the programme as volunteers. The cinema pauses during the semester breaks.
