Kleines Theater Schillerstrasse

The Kleines Theater Schillerstrasse (kTS) in the centre of Geesthacht is a cinema and a theatre in one building. It opened in September 1994 with a single large hall that still serves both. The hall has 293 seats on a steep rake and is equipped with a laser-based 4K projector. A second screen opened in the neighbouring building in July 2010 and has had 107 seats since it was re-seated in January 2023. The Down Under studio, with 36 seats, followed in 2015. Every two weeks the Geesthachter Filmkiste e.V. adds arthouse films to the programme. There is also the kTS-Kinofrühstück, a sneak preview, a seniors' cinema and live relays from the Metropolitan Opera, shown in the original language with German subtitles. In the foyer, the Schiller-Lounge has served wine, beer and snacks outside show times since the summer of 2018.
