The Movie Star in Neustrelitz occupies a former grain cold store built in the 1970s, which stood empty after the end of the GDR until 2000. It opened as a cinema in 2002. The foyer still shows the old masonry, with walls up to 70 cm thick. The four screens sit in a modern extension and seat more than 700 people between them. The programme includes the ARThouse and Queer FilmNacht strands.
